-   Was the President of Finland from 19.12.1940 to 4.8.1944.

-   In 1945, after the Continuation War with the Soviet Union, Finnish communists and the Soviet Union demanded Ryti should be tried as "responsible for the war". After considerable pressure from the Soviet Union, Ryti was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment. President Juho Kusti Paasikivi pardoned him in 1949.

-   Was the prime minister of Finland during the Winter War.

-   In 2004 he was voted 2nd greatest Finn in "Suuret Suomalaiset" TV show. 'Gustaf Mannerheim' (qv) was voted greatest Finn.

-   Father of 'Niilo Ryti' (qv).
