-   Wrote "Popsicles & Icicles," which the Murmaids took to #3 on the Billboard pop chart in early 1964; it was the only big pop hit for the Los Angeles female vocal trio.

-   Owns Gates Ranch, a working cattle ranch, in MacArthur, California

-   'Bread' (qv) was one of the most popular pop groups of the early '70s, earning a string of well-crafted, melodic soft rock singles, all of which were written by keyboardist/vocalist David Gates.
